CCCS alumni play a very important part in the school’s mission and current operation.
We invite you to meet some of our alumni. These students are among many who, have or are about to make a positive contribution to our world.
MEET DR. JOHN KOVAC
Dr. John Kovac is our most accomplished graduate.
According to prevailing scientific thought, our universe burst into existence some 13.8 billion years ago. It was a monumental event that we have come to know as the “Big Bang.” Now, for the first time, scientists have found direct evidence to support the idea that within a fraction of a second after the Big Bang, the newly formed universe began to expand faster than the speed of light, greatly increasing in size. This theory is known as “inflation.” The team of scientists who made this discovery were lead by CCCS alumus, Dr. John Kovac of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics!
Some may wonder if this discovery negates belief in God. On the contrary, the new discovery may offer strong support for belief in God.
The prevalent theory of cosmic origins prior to the Big Bang theory argued that the universe has always existed, without a beginning that necessitated a cause.
However, this new evidence strongly suggests that there was a beginning to our universe. If the universe did indeed have a beginning, by the simple logic of cause and effect, there had to be an agent – separate and apart from the effect – that caused it…and the Bible tells us so: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth.”(Genesis 1:1)
So this latest discovery is good news for us believers, as it adds scientific support to the idea that the universe was caused – or created – by someone outside it and not dependent on it and it took a CCCS graduate to lead this effort!
Corpus Christi salutes Dr. Kovac and his team. Corpus Christi is proud of you beyond what you might imagine.
