Why choose CCCS?
In this third millennium, schools everywhere face new major challenges as a result of the new socio-political and cultural context in which we live. We are not only in the midst of a crisis of values but also an information explosion. As a Catholic school in this “new world,” we are called to deal with new realities but it is for us, not a question of adaptation or keeping pace with new trends, but of a continued commitment to help children develop a missionary determination to speak, live and be faithful to the Gospel. For more than half a century, CCCS has been a beacon of light to students and their families.
All that we do at CCCS is in the service of children. Teachers, staff and administrators believe that we have been called to enhance the life of children through the light of learning. We do not act on our own behalf but on Christ’s who strengthens us in all we do.
The school’s total program and specifically its faith formation program calls students to grow in ways that will serve them for the rest of their lives. We assist students in recognizing and developing their gifts. We encourage students to use their gifts to make the world a better place. We help students to learn to love, to work for justice, to seek holiness and to use their intellect for the common good.
We educate the whole child; we address each student as a spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical being.
Education at CCCS is formative. It fosters the fullest becoming of the whole person in all dimensions of life. We believe that a student’s mind cannot be treated apart from his/her soul. We engage in the formation of the human person from within and we strive to bring them to know the living God as a real presence and support in their lives.
We believe that every child has a spark within him/her that will serve to animate the human spirit and illuminate the mind.
We attempt to prepare students for life-long relationships which are integral to happiness. We emphasize interpersonal skills and the necessity for living at peace with others. At CCCS, outreach to the poor and marginalized is an integral part of the student’s formation. Students in all grades work with caring adult mentors to grapple with global issues as well as those close to home. Younger students sponsor various collections during the year to enhance the lives of the poor while older students go to various sites to provide service to those in need.
CCCS offers a program of academic excellence. A sound program that fosters academic excellence is not a goal at CCCS, it is the norm. In our quickly evolving society, the future holds realities that we cannot even imagine. Students of today will eventually work at jobs yet to be invented. We cannot prepare students for an unknown future, therefore, we teach them to be problem-solvers; we challenge them to think critically and creatively. We enable students to intellectually compete with others and to gain competence and confidence in their approach to work. We teach them to communicate clearly, appropriately and cogently. School-wide scores on the Terra Nova testing, provide evidence of a strong curricular program. CCCS students’ scores across all grades and subjects compare favorably when compared to other students in the diocese and in the Province of Florida, which encompasses all Catholic schools in the state.
The competence and readiness of teachers is outstanding. All CCCS teachers are qualified and certified by the State of Florida. These teachers dedicate themselves to the formation of children with great fervor and diligence.
All that we do is geared toward setting students up for success. We strategically work with students and their families to see that all students have what they need to reach their full potential. A team of administrators, teachers, a guidance counselor and Student Support Director work together with both students and parents to motivate and inspire students and to build their skills and knowledge.
Extra-curricular activities serve to enrich the overall experience for students. CCCS offers a variety of clubs that provides students of all ages the opportunity to participate. The centerpiece of our extra-curricular offerings is our sports program. Middle school students can enjoy a full offering of inter-scholastic sports. (see Extra Curr. Tab for more details)
Choosing CCCS for your child is choosing a future full of promise. Our school is a place where young scholars grow into caring, competent thinkers, armed with what they need to make a marked difference in our world.
